INFORMATION ON THE PROCESSING OF PERSONAL DATA

1. Identity and contact details of the controller.

The personal data of students collected through this application, as well as upon submission of the necessary supporting documents, as defined in the relevant call for applications, are processed by the University of Western Macedonia, located in the Local Community of Koilon, Municipality of Kozani and contact details, tel. +302461056259 , +306945020856 email: cwah@uowm.gr

2. Identity and contact details of the Data Protection Officer.

3. The purpose of processing.

Students' personal data are processed for the purpose of granting an annual scholarship as a housing subsidy by the University of Western Macedonia's Student Support Unit for Students of Vulnerable Groups.

4. Legal basis for the processing.

The legal basis for the processing of personal data is paragraph 1(b) of Article 6 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (taking measures for the performance of a scholarship contract) and for the processing of special categories of data is paragraph 2(h) of Article 9 of the same Regulation (management of social systems and services).

5. Recipients / categories of recipients of personal data.

The processed data are accessible to the competent and specially trained administrative staff of the Unit for Support of Students of Vulnerable Groups (MIFEO) of the MPEO, acting under the supervision of the latter and processing the data in question exclusively on the basis of specific instructions, committed to data confidentiality (Article 29 GDPR). Certain data are also transmitted to the Managing Authority concerned and to the European Commission, which are responsible for the monitoring, evaluation, financial management, verification and audit of the Programme. The data may also be accessible by IT service providers and administrative support providers. Processing by suppliers performing processing on behalf of the University is governed by contract (Article 28 GDPR). The University shall ensure, including through a written contract, that data is processed on its behalf only for the purposes set out above and shall issue written instructions to suppliers, including on the retention of data, the deletion (after the end of the provision of processing services) of data that is no longer necessary in relation to the purposes for which it was collected or submitted, and the deletion of data that is no longer necessary in relation to the purposes for which it was collected or submitted. Similarly applies to any other processors carrying out processing on behalf of the University who take part in the same type of processing. 

6. Students' rights.

Students have the following rights:

(i) Right of access to personal data and to information about their processing, including the right to obtain a copy of the data.

(ii) The right to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.

(iii) The right to erasure of data that are no longer necessary in relation to the purposes for which they were collected or otherwise processed, where the processing is not necessary for compliance with a legal obligation.

(iv) Right to restrict processing where the accuracy of the data is contested or the processing is considered unlawful or the student objects to the processing or the University no longer needs the data and it is required by the student. Students may exercise the above rights by sending a request to the Data Protection Officer of the University of Western Macedonia, at the email address dpo@uowm.gr.

At the same time, if the processing of data violates the GDPR, students have the right to lodge a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Authority (Kifissias avenue 1-3, 11523 Ampelokipi, tel. 210.647.5600, www.dpa.gr) or the supervisory authority of the EU Member State where they reside or work or the supervisory authority of the place of the alleged violation.
